Working with bold colour and texture, and a warped sense of perspective, Bathroom Stories 02 by French-Romanian artist and illustrator Ana Popescu invites you into her eclectic painted universe. Strong shadows highlight the angular architectural environment constructed from blue terrazzo-like surfaces. Breaking up the monochromatic room are two surfaces of textural, solid colour in a vibrant blue and warm yellow. Simple yet layered, the composition invites you in.

The French, Romanian visual artist and illustrator Ana Popescu works across several mediums and methods, exploring various themes and our perceptions of space. Having graduated with a Masters of Fine Arts from the University of Applied Arts, Vienna, and currently based in the Austrian capital, her work combines simple forms, distorted perspectives, light, shade and bold use of colour to create compositions that are both familiar yet distant. With gallery shows across Europe, she combines her artistic practice with work for commercial clients including Google, Rimowa, Tylko, Canal+, Architectural Digest, Soho House and many more.
