Finn Juhl was a part of the famous era in Danish architecture called Danish Modern, which lasted from around the 1930’s to the end of the 1960’s and included names such as Hans Wegner, Arne Jacobsen, Poul Kjærholm, Kaare Klint, Mogens Koch and Børge Mogensen. Juhl was one of the first Danish architects to achieve international success, and it was Juhl who paved the way for Danish Modern becoming a “brand” for Danish furniture design.
This book focuses not only on Finn Juhl’s house but also on Juhl as a modernist and as a man of the world, and it offers new and exciting insights on the subject. The book deals with the period around Finn Juhl’s first experimental furniture in the 1930’s, the so called Golden Age of the 1940’s and 1950’s and Juhl’s status today, where his designs have had a rebirth as furniture classics and collectibles.
